Baker 20 Tunnel Questions

Anyone out there familiar with the Baker Custom Boats 20' tunnel. I have not been able to find anything on it except that it was built in calif. There is one listed for sale on this site. I'm interested in any info you may have.

I think I can almost state for a fact that before the Stokers started building their own boats they did some design work on the bottoms and raced the Baker boats. According to the Powerboat Magazine tests of the day once Stoker came out with their 20SST it far surpassed the Baker rally sport tunnel, as I think they were called.

If the Baker you're considering is in great shape and the price is right you could have a hell of a lot of fun with it.. I've seen used Stokers for $13 to 15k so that Baker better be quite a bit cheaper than that.

Another boat in the same league, that has the most room in the cockpit is the LCI/Lavey Sebering? Tunnel. A friend had 2 of those and they didn't ride as nice or handle as well as a Stoker but the extra room inside was pretty sweet. They all go pretty fast with the right set-up. It all depends on what you want the boat to do.

You should have no worries with a Baker.

I've got the old Powerboat Magazine with the test of that thing if you want any specs on it. It must have been about 1982 or 83?
