Exclamation STV EURO as a race/drag boat.

For starters, being a former IOGP ModVP racer from years ago, I know (in a way) what it takes to take a hull that serves a dual purpose and place it on a track and win races. At the Jasper race I was really impressed by many of the hulls out there and the speeds etc. the guys were getting. Two boats however really caught my attention and to be quite honest about it, I was more than simply impressed. I hope I have the names right on this. First was Wayne Tripp's EURO. Wally and I were just talking about building one for myself and I was questioning how competitive a Euro would be in the drag races when out comes Wayne with his red Euro. I am telling you right now, that boat flies!! While not the fastest and certainly not the slowest by any means, this guy has done his homework on his setup. That hull just smokes the water when he nails the throttle and runs like it is on rails.

The other boat that I was equally impressed with was the Triad V-bottom of Chuck Martini. I have never been a huge fan on OMC's but I gotta admit, seeing Chuck send the Merc's back to the trailer time after time was pretty dang exciting to say the least. All Ican say that in TX where Chuck lives, I am sure many a performance boater has webnt away with his tail tucked under after geting a beating from Chuck out on the lake. Guys like Wayne and Chuck working with rec. hulls deserve alot more credit than they get. Again, the pro's like DeWitt, Chris Bond, Phil Hollis, David Pou, the list goes on......... do a fantastic job with their race hulls but I am talking about hulls built for family use which the vast majority of us own.

I would love to see an article on any one of these guys boats and what they went through to get to the performance level they have achieved.

First of all Wayne Tripps boat is not a stock Euro. He had Wally make the pad area simmilar to a Race Triad. I like Money is no Object Wayne Tripp, but you are going to spend over $50,000 to try and duplicate what Wayne's got. I believe he is going to pro gas next year his boat might be for sale.

Thumbs up I love my Euro too!

    Hi Mr. ZZGraphics!
I talked to Wayne Tripp about his Euro at Jasper. Started out by thanking him for the info he e-mailed me a year ago when I was thinking of buying one. I couldn't be happier with the boat. However fast the Euro will fly top end is one thing, but the real pursuit is to accelerate with the A-boats and RR rockets. Wayne gave me some advice and I understand that Wally has a few tricks up his sleeve on bottom mods to carry weight better out of the hole. If you really decide to go for it with Wally for a drag Euro, I would love to be a part of it too. I’d like to run my boat at the Blarney Island, Illinois Drags and the Grassroots Drags next year at Firewater 2002. HOWEVER, I don’t want to run if I cannot be competitive. Keep me in the loop by e-mail My e-mail is npkaye@aol.com and I’ll be waiting to hear from you soon!

PS: I think Wally will remember me, as I spoke to him a couple of times and he joined Brad Collins, myself and Balzy after dinner at a Jasper Grill & No Bar restaurant. I asked him about the carbon fiber whale tail he makes for using on a Euro. Wayne Tripp uses it as well. Say “Hi” to him for me and take care.
