93 Mirage jaguar ski racer setup
Im lookin for info on setting up a 93 Mirage Jaguar ski racer with a stock 93 merc 200 efi.The boat has a manual jackplate with 6" setback and the motor I think has a limiter of 6200 rpm.I was thinking of a 28" pitch prop not sure on style Round Ears or the Cleavers.I have a 26" stock merc chopper and going to add a nose cone kit on the gear case. What is a good starting point on running the propshaft height. Thanks Jody

Hey Jody
I have a 93 Ski Racer with a 9.5 inch Rapid Jack and have a 2.5 200 Carb motor on it now, but i also have a 2.4 EFI motor that i run on it. I have a Cle with Bobs Nose Cone and i generally run the prop shaft split line about 1/4 inch about the Pad. Lots of guys will tell you that you can run it 1.5inches above the pad , but i have never had any success with maintaining good water pressure at anything higher than 3/4 of an inch. With a worked 27 Mazco Chopper at 8200 RPM it has hit 99.3 on GPS. With the Carb motor and a 24 yamaha at 8200 it hit 84 on gps sunday . 2:1 gears. Hope that helps!

mirage setup
Ok thanks for the advice guys,I did see the thread ok mirage owners and most of the set up is the 3/4" above pad at split shaft using anyware from 8" to 9" setback. The only thing I didnt see was a mirage with a stock 200 merc.Being the mirages have a flat transom and no built in setback Im not sure if running less power than the normal 260 horse requires more or less setback.Another thing is being this is a fishing motor being mounted if it does have a limiter can it be removed so I can run a 26 or 28 pitch prop in the 7000 rpm or higher range or am I lookin for trouble. Jody
I started that other thread, Email 2de river, he bought my old boat and is running a 2.4 200 on it now, It has a 5.5" setback also. He might be able to help.
Waterboy
Also, RiverRat is real close also. It would depend on the weight of your boat alsoLast edited by WaterBoy; 03-10-2004 at 07:32 PM.

200 efi
Ok thanks Waterboy that will get me in the right direction.Im not to familiar with mirage boats and their setup.Im actually helping a buddy set this boat up with the 200 merc.I have a 95 stv euro with a 2.4 merc modvp so im not sure if my setup will work on this boat although it sure seems close.I think the stvs and mirages are both hands down well made dock rockets.I personally was going to order a new jaguar ski racer in 94 but it wasnt in the cards. The gel scheme looked the same as Jason Hubers boat I liked the blues and white.I guess its whatever you like . Hey Jody
Do you guys have to buy red boats living way up there in the bush so you don't get shot at during hunting season?

Yes it is Colin the king of Avon himself. When I get a 260 setup I will be gettin Randy to Build it.Touring the shop while I was there was great seeing the expierience and projects underway, its first class. The lakes around Avon remind me of northern manitoba. When I bought my boat from brian he told me about Randys expierience and the help he got in setup, very detailed.Procomp sent me that video on the 2003 boat meet in whitefish chain in Brainard.I got to see my boat rippin in the bay there it was great.

I saw your boat when I was down at Randys shop having my engine and set up done. They pulled into the bay we were hanging out in. It's a beautiful boat; congrats!
I'm a huge fan of Randy. He's treated me top notch since the first day. The time he's spent with me, inlcuding today, is relativley unheard of. He explained the whole process to me from start to finish and for a guy who didn't know a pile about this stuff going in, I've learned a ton from him.
we're going down there in June for the Hot boat Festival. I'm going to kick Randys ass all weekend.

Yeah it sounds like a blast Brad asked me if I was going Im gonna try to get it ready for june.Watching all the different boats cruising and racing and even socializing with everybody is going to be great. You will certainly have a challenge goin up against Randy not only is his rig fast hes got a lot of tricks for fine tuning. How is your boat project goin anyway.

I was joking. No way in hell would I beat Randy. Ever.
Boat is in rough shape. There was a while were I wasn't able to work on it. Time to get serious again.
