Stop the melt down
Just thought I would point this out since I am dealing with this problem today. I am in the process of resleeving and porting this 2.5 200 HP for one of my competitors race boat. The motor came form a fishing boat, it has been badly over heated and two of the pistons have lost their pins. The reason for all the damage is the water pump had come apart, the owner replaced the water pump and thought everything was fine. He did not know pieces of the pump had gone through the motor and got stuck. Most of the water passages are large until it gets to the exhaust cover plate and try’s to enter the water jacket around the cylinders. This area I have circled in the picture below. I have removed the pieces and they are on the white paper next to the block. The port side of the block had 5 out of the 6 holes completely blocked. So I would highly recommend anyone finding their water pump in pieces or missing some of the fins to pull the heads and the exhaust cover plate and remove any posable blockage.

This is important information!
I found pieces of rubber like on your paper inside one of the blocks of my engines by coincidense just because I used some time staring
at the beutiful lightweight construction...:-) i think it was inside the watercanal below the cylinder row.
Thanks
