    Alternator on 300 Pro Max

My alternator doesn't seem to be charging at all. Any tricks to troubleshoot this thing?? It's the 60 AMP belt driven alternator. Any help would be much appreciated

Here is a section from the Mercury Manual for the 250, which is basically the same system in terms of charging.

One of the first step though would be to put an amp meter on it, to make sure that it is not having any output.

YEP....I couldn't stand it last night so I went out there with a flashlight to look it over, I grabbed the main red cable and it was not even connected. The connector just broke in half, or melted in half. I've never seen anything quite like that, but the thing does put out 60 amps. Ive replaced it with a much heavier guage connector. Just glad to know that it wasn't the alternator. They are over $500 now!! Thanks for the input!!

Looks like a 10 guage wire now, I guess it would not hurt to bring it down to an 8. If it passes enough amperage to heat the connector up to break...it would be happy with an 8.
