sorry guys..this is my hometown...Don never owned Apache..Kramer started Apache..he was a customer of mine as almost all the powerboat row Porsche owners were..Don sold Ben a company called USA Racing...the name Blue Thunder was owned by Customs..I've got all the books too and was around Don since 1968..Michaels book is the best..I got my copy from David Aronow, also a customer and friend..
It's a shame what Ben did to Don but Don played with fire and got burned..I could also write a book about the whole smuggler deal but it's best left buried..A lot of guys are going straight now and don't need the notoriety...most of them are really good guys that just liked the rush..much like the speed rush..

Hey didn't Aero-Tech pull the same stunt as Power Play? I heard they screwed everyone too, including ripping off Al Shiada out of a couple of engines and drives, and dozens of other people out of cash. The same story, four customers per actuall boat.

Lilabner, make sure if you do ever write a book to use a pen name, or it sounds like you will end up taking a dirt nap too!! You are right though, better let sleeping dogs "lie"..

The one thing I understand is how easy it is for all of us to pass judgement and say we would'nt go down that path butttt--
with that money, power, the boats, babes etc, etc. You want to believe.
I though for sure Apachee was a re-named Aronow company??

    Talking Dean

Can't tell you. Will have to show you
    Kidding of course.
Best of 97/98 last season. Spent all Summer trying to dial boat set up (almost every step was backwards) and tune motor.
Had what I think was an igniton gremlin all season that would not let the motor pull up a big wheel.
It has run the fastest so far w/a 24/26" wheel (on a freagin JohnRude???) as the ignition was'nt strong egnough to "power" the bigger wheels up throough the mid range.
I am fairly confident (???) that I have the problem cured. Our weather is just starting to break here and as soon as the mud drys enough to get it out of the barn I will resume testing.
Am still 100% confident that it will run one ten to one teens when I finally get every thing right.
It gets to 97/98 way too quick for that to be all there is
    How about your project??
You've been kind of quiet lately?? I fessed up now how bout you
    Hope all is gooing well!
    Gary

Well we spent the winter with the boat upside down working on the bottom. As you remember I am working on my second motor. Should have it ready soon I hope.

Which it don't matter our river is out of it's banks(or at lest it was when I left home about 2 weeks ago). we was running 94 mph with a 2.5 200 with a little compression. The motor we are working on now dynoed at 335hp before it was took apart due to a wreak. The motor wasn't hurt we are just checking it out and hoping for the same hp when we get it back togeather.Good to here from you again keep us posted on the progress and I wil try to stay in touch.

hoping me,u,and what's his name,oh yea G-man can get togeather and run.

    Dean

we hope to be down there for good in the next 30 - 60 days.
looking at anywhere from Ft.Myers to St.Pet and and accross the state east from both towns until you hit water. Employment will dictate exact location.
    That's a 10/4 on G-Man too.
I can help you on drag set up too. I have mine launching pretty hard w/a 26.
You should see it or ride in it with a 24!
I just bought a real Yammi 22" to play with to for the real short courses.
My 26" Yammi copy is the best all around wheel I've run yet though. With as light as my hull is it launches hard enough to hold it's own against anybody and if you keep your foot on the floor it still runs 95/96.
Is the only wheel I've run so far that pulls that hard from a dig, stills flys the boat well and you don't have to lift when it transitions from being a boat to being a very low flying airplane
Heck, I'm giving away all my secrets. I'm thinkin we need to drag race and toss bricks on the gas pedal

Where you talking about in FL. isn't bad. I live in Al. and work down here in the spring and fall. I work construction so I travel around alot. what kind of work do you do?

I ran a 22et,24yam,and a 26triton on my boat last year. The 24 ran the best. It ran 94 in the 1\4 on gps. havn't tried top end yet. I have a 22,2-24's, yam. and a 24 hoss wasp that I am going to try this year.

Does your boat come out with the bow way up in the air? I know i have seen alot of them look like they were thking off for the moon. Mine didn't with the other motor but i was woundering about this one. May have to move some weight around.

Thanks for the invite also. You get to Fl I will look you up.

    Dean

    I'm in outside sales.

O.K., I'll give up all my scerets to you The Viking/Vector hull is notorious for shooting for the moon at hole shot.
I moved my battery to the bow, and installed a "planing aid" and the boat will now launch flat and hard.
So far, my boat is the most fun when stomping it from about a 50 roll
