That looks like a boat that belonged to Alan Miller who worked for Carlson, it was driven 1 year at Beloit by Bill Muncie, a similar colored one was run at Havasu by Muncie in I believe 1979/80but I may be wrong on the year. Dought it held any speed records.

PS Miller had a couple that color

    Hi Rick,
    Very cool looking Sprint...
I saw the pics you posted on the CGOA website a few months ago. One of the Glastron catalogs from the 70's has pics of Muncey's raceboat that is similar to yours.
I hope you decide to keep it original as a raceboat. I don't know if it would be considered valuable, but I bet you get a few drools over here on this site. If you decide to send it down the road, post it here.

    Glastron Carlson

Alan Miller set all these boats up for Havasu and etc. Muncie ran a few with him around 1978-80. You can reach Alan at 254 865 9481 after 5pm. He has lots of info and photos of these boats. Alan also worked with Eliminator and Laser in the 80's.

Louis, were they every competitive? Although I've always like the styling of the Carlsons and later the Glastrons, I always thought they were dogs after the tunnels of the 60's/70's.

I think the blue boat here is absolutely gorgeous. I'd like to have it if it ever turns up for sale.

    Competetive Carlsons

When I lived in Austin on the lake in the early 60's Glastron tested their single and twin marathon racing V bottoms by my house. These boats looked like slugs compared to the later Carlsons but ran OK for their time. Art Carlson always liked racing and the Glastron Carlson V bottoms evolved into competitive Mod-VP rigs. Alan Miller worked with Carlson to set these boats up and field an Evinrude powered team in the late 70's. I know Alan won some local races at the time. At Havasu they were always capable of top 5 finishes. Muncie always had a tough time being competitive but Miller was right there with the best. The Carlsons were always good looking rigs when we were all running bread and butter stuff.

I talk to Alan Miller an my CVX was one of three that were built for racing,an my was the only one made of kevlar and weighs 650 pounds.no wooden striner,an light weight sealers.Did other boat maker or raceteems make boats like this in the 70"s ?It must of cost alot to use kevlar to make a hull in the 70"s.I would think? Thanks for all your help everyone .Rick

    Rick,

I'm sure that a piece so unique is quite valuable.

Keep the boat safe, minty and above all, keep it original. Seek the advice of good people, such as those on this site for ideas and instructions on restoration.

Keep up the effort in finding out the history of the craft. Learn all you can, as you have been doing, about the dates, places, events that the craft is to be remembered for.

    Best of luck
