hey,that color scheme looks familier back around 1996/97 brad collins brought a mirage to havasu for hotboat mag test with same colors,wonder if that was the same river racer??

That boat that was in HotBoat Aug 1997 (I posted a pic of it on a previous page to this thread) was slightly different. This boat is a 2000 Mullins built. This one may just make it to Havasu also

don't know this guy from Adam, saw it on Dale Hollow a couple years back. Owner said it was Mirage w/540-572? with twin turbochargers. He didn't know of too many (any?) ob's that would touch it

I also met up with that guy a few years back at Dale Hollow. His name is Rex, and its a twin Gale-Banks turbo charger system, he's a desiel mechanic. That thing flat out flies in the 130 range.

I talked with Rex the one and only time I came to Dale to outlaw race. He and I both had a pretty good weekend. I beat everyone, including Camel, that I raced that weekend, and he did too. We never did race. I don't think he wanted any of me, and honestly, I'm not to sure I could have beaten him. Not only is that tall deck turbocharged, but he's running it on alcohol. I estimate he was making 1000HP. My jet boat buddies were all getting a hard on over Rex's boat, and for good reason. He pounded several hydros with big blower motors. They probably had a small top end advantage on him in flat water, but the outlaw races up there were usually pretty rough by drag boat standards. He had bottom end punch on the hydros, and his boat handled the rough water much better than they could.
By the way, that boat has raced at KDBA. I never saw it run, but rumor had it
running in the 8s(!?). Barry Salsman, official, friend, fellow Mirage racer, and straight up guy, told me that it ran in the 10s.

Here is my 97 Tx built with 15 inch 260 . It is a very nice boat in all ways except room . Those of you who may know me are familiar with all the stuff that I carry in the boat , spares etc . It drives like a dream , and i really like the way it doesn't porpoise !My picture file sucks I will try to do better ! Tom .
