93 Mirage Polecat
Heres our repainted Polecat, this thing is a great drag boat, very quick. My son does the driving with this one. This was after we sunk it. 11 sec KDBA winner, 9 sec Smokin in the Cove Winner!

awesome boats
Guys:
Good to see there are some good looking/running Mirages out there still. They are like a classic supercar from the late 60's era.
I'd like to flip a RR and do some sponson (2 steps) and pad (widen, turn down lift rails) updates. Maybe a winter project for the future?
CS1, here's a little history on yours.
I bought that boat very used from Jaco's, Lawrenceburg, TN.
The boat only had a front bucket, was run hard and put up wet. The sponson tips were faded where they had stuck out from under his used boat shed in the sun. But it was light, had the latest bottom version, and I new it would go with some HP and a
total rerig. I stripped it to a bare hull, wet sanded the whole thing, and took it Brad's Kaufman, TX factory for a rear seat and deck. A friend (Chris Luck) who owns a sign/window tint company in Hendersonville, TN did the vinyl graphics.
Another friend and I switched the trailer from single axle to tandem, and plated it in.
I ran a 2.5 Z-port with SVS, naturally aspirated on it, and it REALLY hauled ass. I never took it to the drags, so I can't give you any ETs, but ran a very quick 115 on the lake with a 26" Yamaha. I raced all the Allisons and STVs here with it (and there are plenty of those here in their "backyards"), and cleaned house. I raced a fellow with lightweight tunnel jet (Sunkisst) and
mega motor, and he was shell shocked. He said "that's the 1st outboard I've ever raced that could punch with with my boat. I've raced all these Bullet and Allison guys that "say" they're running 100+ and just kill them. I explained to him that many of those guys probably were running close to 100 "stretched," but like most OB hotrods of that time were propped for top end, and were mistaking fast for quick.............I told him that you just ran into one like yours, a light tunnel with horsepower, set up to accelerate ! We later came to be good friends, and he crew chiefed for me, and helps me with my offshore boats now.
Here are some pics of my other Mirages.
Happy Holidays Everyone!
Steve
