If Im not mistaken the STV bottom is different from the LTV bottom. The pad is a inch wider on the LTV.T-Rex would know for sure.He knows these boats better than anyone.I have a stratos 180VT that is the same hull as the LTV.He talked me into doing the 1 inch pad mod.I sould have the boat in the water in about a month and 1/2.waiting on some backordered parts. So has anyone been faster than 117mph yet????

117.6 on gps at the rumble on the river in 2004. I have not tried any top end passes lately but I am always willing to give it another go.I have a better power head now than when I ran that ,a 97 drag with svs .The worst part of a high speed run with the laser is getting off the foot pedal because the boat drops so fast and the sponsons grab the water and things get very interesting if you don:t have the boat level ...side to side.I have a power jake plate and when I start to slow down I trim down on the plate and up wee bit on the motor trim to compensate for the drop.

I would LOVE to see the old man bust 120 and shake them allison & stv boys up.I always pull for the underdog.Thats why I bought the pile I got.If you beat me so what but if I beat you thats sad cause I got a raggy stratos with a OMC on the back!!!

Ed's Lazer is fast.I ran side by side with him at the Radical boat reunion a few years back with my flame STV copy.My gps speedo read 113 mph and Ed was right there beside me the whole time. That boat is a chip too.

400 lbs
My boat when I bought it maybe was 400# all kevlar and no floor and no gunnell or deck supports. The boat is a 1989 and says race divison on the back from the factory. The top cap is different from most lasers that I have seen.I used two action marine bucket seats inline and had a custom made 40 gal gas tank that went between the trnsom supports( alot of stern weight)..The laser thats pictured 3 or 4 posts up was my old 1984 and its heavy and strong and fast. The last engine I had on that boat was 260 with a bobs 6 inch fixed jack plate and it would run 101 with 28 performance drag and 103 with a 30 performance. If I had tried a power jack plate then I woud have increased those speeds 4 to 6 mph.The answer to your question about weight and top end speed is that I think the top end will still be there but it will take you longer to do it.As stated in all the posts these boats have quirks that you have to get use to........P.S that 84 laser was orignally rigged with a 1990 200hp omc and ran 86mph

Ive got my Stratos 180VT ROCKET down to about 750lbs.Thats about as light as its going to get.Its the same hull as the LTV but a different deck. Its a heavy layup and you can walk on the deck if that tells ya anything.I did the pad mod like T-rex so it will be interesting to see how it changes the way the boat handles & the top speed.Im going to spend this season getting used to the new hull but next year Im going to hang the "gator" on the back and see just how fast a stratos can go!!!
