    worlds dumbest question

    Ok this is goin to sound stupid but what exactly is leakdown, and should it be tested when bnuyin a motor used? also what should the compression numbers be on a stock 2001 3.1l yamaha vmax?

    It's not a dumb question

    Alot of people don't know what it is. It is when you pressurize the cyl with air to see how much it leaks . Usually done at 100 psi to make the % easy to figure out.

    For a race motor I hear guys tearing them down at 6-8% and for a lake motor it is up around 10-12%
