    Merc 200 efi wont accell

This guy just put a fresh powerhead on this motor and now it can hardly get the boat on plane...If you turn the boat and get the prop to break loose it will rev up and go then and run strong once it gets going..I went through and reset all the linkages that were way out of sync and checked the tps...The ddt says everything is fine...Any I deas

Timing is right on..I ran it more today. You can hit the gas and the thing hits about 2000 and stays there for about 10 to 15 sec. then clears out and goes..Sometimes while its doing it if you back off of the gas then hit it again it will pick up and run..It runs great once it gets passed that point turns a 25" thru hub 6200 rpm so I know it aint over propped either...

Sounds like an inline I used to know Hit the gas, watch the tach climb to 1800 and cross your fingers it would keep climbing. If it bounced to 2200 you were on your way, if not you were plowing harder than an Iowa resident in a cornfield.

What do the plugs tell you?? Could it be too fat maybe?

Laser or offshore? I know as much about EFI stuff as I do about women so bear with me. I'm trying to act more as a sounding board than anything else until someone with some knowledge comes along.

Isn't there an adjustment pot on the ECU to fatten or lean out the mix? Could it just be tweaked a little to far (or possibly a lot in this case)???

    Sounds like mine

Mine will idle but will not run between idle and 3000 prms, if I can get past the 3000 it will run. The problem with mine is the ECU, we tried it on another boat and it did the same thing. I am going by Rapair today and get Sean to hook it up to the DDT to see if we can determine what has happened.

Once again, I would start with the basics, and work your way up.
All things being good, try a pressure regulator.
I had one last summer, put a re-man powerhead on, and the lake test did about the same thing. Sounded like it was lean though, not rich. Bogged real bad at take off, but would run fine anywhere above. Had a conversation with one of my old instructors from Merc school (when it still held at the factory), and he suggested the regulator.
    Fixed it.

    Results from the DDT

Results from the DDT came out good except the TPS was set to 0 degrees so we adjusted it to 25. He said go run it and see if that helps. I really don't think that is the problem since the results were the same on a boat that was running fine before swapping the boxes.

Mine does the same thing if I try to get it on plane with the 26 Trophy and 4 people on board. If I jack it to the moon to le the exhaust leg breathe a little, it will go.
It just grunts: Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, 1800 rpm, no go...

    Pyro

Thats what I thought when the guy brough it to me but he swears it didnt do it before the powerhead swap and he also swears its the same prop as before, although it has some rebuild numbers stamped on it,I havnt asked him about that yet..The thing is sometimes it wont do it..I tried it with the tps turn all the way down and it was better, but it didnt like running at a slow planing speed, you could feel it surging..I have it in kinduva happy medium now and I`m wating to see how it does for him..I still know that there is something not quite right with it...

Don't guess when setting the TPI. Read my posts in thsi thread about it if you havn't already:
    http://forums.screamandfly.com/forum...threadid=38270

It's going to control the exact fuel and air mix that is delivered at idle, so what happend when you mash the throllte may depend on it...

I see the tps where it should be and it still wouldnt run..I just tried going exstreams either way to see how it reacted.. Being as lean as it would go on the tps it still wouldnt even lean spit or hesitate ,but you could tell when just bearly on plane it(3000rpm) it was lean..I know it something more than the tps..

    STATER...stater...STATER

i just learned that a stater has a low rpm side, and a high rpm side...

you all may have already known this, but i did'nt..

most of the time when one goes bad, it is caused by a grounded problem in the stater itself but it will affect both sides at the same time... but sometimes it will affect only one side of the stator, either high or low side.

i would try one off a motor that is running good right now.

    just a suggestion, good luck
