slight mods
hey all,
I finally found a set of 2.0 heads for my 2.4 200. timing is set @ 23deg and the boat is on a 19 bullet bass boat. I really dont want to have to worry about this motor, so is the motor still going to be reliable as long as I use good gas and keep my maintanance up?? Thanks in advance for your replies. BTW I also have .045 head gaskets

Compression
Do a compression check to see where you are at. That is the only way to tell what to expect. Hopefully it is under 150.

COMPRESSION
I am gonna do whatever I need to (thick gaskets, mill a set of 2.4 heads) to keep comp. about 140- or so no more than 145.

Let us know what kind of actual performance gain you get by just swapping to the 2.0 heads to bump compression. I have been thiking of raising the compression of my motor, but not sure if I want to always have to run premium gas. Any other mods? Fibre Reeds or Velocity stacks?

head gaskets
I wonder what effect gasket thickness would have?? How much difference in compression would be from .045 to.055 or.65 gaskets??? Obviously thicker gaskets would lower compression, but would the difference be REALLY noticable???

not really went from 130 to 140 wast of time and money imo.. same with alum flywheel slight better accelration not 300$ worth my 2 cts.. 2,4 220. you need some real increase in horsepower when you start gettin up there dont fall into the monkey see monkey do thinking mode been there done that after 45 yrs ive learned alot good ideas some bad. speed costs $ period. have fun!

There is only one gasket for normal 2.4 200 just the thick one, u less you have fat block and are using 2.5 gaskets.
2.4 200 lots of people put 2.0 heads on supposed to be about 145,
