Any specifics you would like in one? Budget in mind? years in mind? project or ready to run? 2 strokes or 4 strokes, painted or basic white? They only made 126, and they are out there, but will say, I love mine and it would take serious cash for me to sell it, as replacing it would almost be impossible. But too, shopping is fun!

The nicer the better, hate to buy another project, unless it is a blank and needs everything, but even then I've done enough and would love a nice boat to run. Less than $200,000, power doesn't matter at all, I'll take either and likely do a four stroke conversion at some point, I'd love a boat with color but I'd take a white one if its everything else I am looking for, I thought there were 130?? Yes, shopping can be fun, finding the right boat is going to be difficult, from what I have seen already in the 28 market, they are either really nice or in my opinion a running project that needs everything.
There are a lot of guys that messaged me on FB, they'd sell but looking for someone to offer them $50,000 over market, I totally get it. What year is yours? have you had to do your tanks or transom? Pretty boat, 300X motors? First one or have you owned multiple 28's?

After Warren Duke’s run of 151 at LOTO, The 28 foot skater has become a popular one, ha ha. This one’s a 99, painted in 2005, and then I just repainted the entire bottom and did touchups this past year. Yes, 300X motors, be careful, they like to crack cranks, that’s why these were both just fresh and new ones put in. i’ve owned it 2 years, but a good buddy owned it seven years prior, so I’ve been around it quite a while. Be careful if they’ve been in salt, this one luckily never has. Tanks were done, actually the guy from the skater came out to the prior owners shop and did them which was cool. It’s amazing what these things can eat up with chop, we’ve taken it up to the apostle Islands, took it all the way across Lake Michigan this year, it’s fun what they can do. I don’t even know that I could sell it, if so it would take one hell of an offer. Like you said, a lot of them are projects. We did a ton of wire freshening on it this past winter, new stereo and Garmin. She’s a great boat, love it! But with anything new being 400,000+, where do you go from here?

Yeah, I think people are certainly talking about 28's again because of the run, but I think because it is new territory. I don't think Warren's 151 mph run changed the value on a bunch of 20++ year old boats over night.
Your 28 would be hard for you to replace, you'd have to be doing it to move up. It has good colors, decent power, and you know all of the recent history on it. That is half the battle, knowing what is done and done correctly. I hear a lot of the Florida salt water boats need transoms from being run in the ocean, not sure if that is true but it makes sense to me, and of course a lot of the wiring, fittings and such are just trash from the salt. I've been around a hand full of prior salt water exposer boats and they weren't pretty. Yeah a 25 year newer 28 with four stroke power, wrap around window is up there in price, but then again long before you get there you could be in a DW32 for mid 2's to 3's. The 28's like any fun small boat have their following but once you leave the price point fun factor of them there are certainly other boats to look at.

I’ll be curious, buddy building a 32 DW right now, but at 10 wide, trailering becomes fun. Is it worth the over 500k he will have into it? To be determined. Knowing that, mine would be north of 150, though more than that into it, and even then, finding a boat as capable in rough, with the speed and the looks and the skater quality , be a hard one to sell…… good luck, a 28 Skater is untouched in its class …..Click image for larger version.

Ten wide is easy to trailer, super easy really. Completely different animal than a 28 Skater, different price point, different capabilities. You definitely have a super nice 28, enjoy!!
