Lower unit internals swap questions
I have a customer that's got a sporty small shaft that needs prop shaft, also has 2.5 coned ratcheting case needs gears , can I either use coned case propshaft in sporty? Or atleast use gears from sporty in coned case to build him a unit?

Not really.
Reverse gear and propshaft go together...so the fishin ratcheting case would not be able to donate a propshaft unless you put the reverse gear in the sporty with it...and the guts from the sporty can go in the fishin case but you would still need a sportmaster propshaft to complete it.

Carrier nut is the same. Propshaft carrier+reverse gear+propshaft all go together for the bigger shaft diameter in there yeah.
Wouldn't it be easier to just get him a fat shaft and put it in the sporty? If that thing only needs a shaft that is the easiest fix...no shimming

The sportmaster carrier nut lists for 108.00 and has 5 extra threads, and the fishing motor carrier nut is about 25.00..The fishing motor carrier is also a little shorter..If you use a fishing motor carrier in a sportmaster you do not have enough threads to grab the carrier....what will work is a billet carrier from geiger tec in canada,,we use them here in the salt water because the stock sporty rust to sh...............

Not really. Theres extra threads but there isn't always the threads in the case to grab them...so it renders the bigger nut useless. It looks like its doing something good cause more of the case is filled up with nut; but in reality the big nut doesn't grab the last few threads. Ever put a skinny nut in a sportmaster and look at how many threads are bare after it is torqued...not 4 or 5 more however many more threads the fat nut has. The longer nut is more likely to gaul, so we end up putting the skinny nut in most of them if they feel funny at all putting the fat one in. But ultimately it doesn't matter as long as you don't jack the threads. You could put the fat nut in any fishing lower if you felt so inclined.
