Control box to smart gauge tach

Hi all I recently bought a Jon Boat with a 4-stroke and I'm wanting to put a smart craft gauge tack on it I ordered the kit and I think I need the junction box but I noticed they are listinga four port connection I'm not sure why it wouldn't just be a two port adapter. Thanks guys and what would that part number be to connect them together the tether from the console and the tether from the tack as the tether from the remote isn't long enough to reach the Tack location. Thank you guys

What engine do you have, what control box do you have, and what tach did you get?

    Ok, perfect info.
The reason you need a junction box is because the wiring harness in that box does not have a terminator resistor for the CAN P line. Easy enough, you need a J box p/n 98-8m0165557
and a terminator resistor p/n 859318T1. Plug the gauge drop into the J box, the pigtail from the control box, and put on a terminator and youre all set. You are correct in your first post about 4 pin...there is no need for 4 pin at all with what you are trying to do.

Make sure there is a terminator resistor in the engine and one on your junction box
