    Yup

But TSMC’s US efforts received a big boost under President Joe Biden, due to his CHIPS and Science Act, which helped fund investments in American chipmaking. During Biden’s term, the company said it would build two additional Arizona plants and increase its investment in the state to $65 billion, although at least one of those new facilities has faced delays.
To be fair, he did deliver. Just not as promised. Seems to be a theme.
Trump and Foxconn announced in 2017 a $10 billion electronics factory in Wisconsin that was expected to create 13,000 jobs. But the company eventually abandoned most of its plans for the facility and the high-tech products it was supposed to build. The company in 2021 said it would invest just $672 million in a revised deal that would create fewer than 1,500 jobs.

Foxconn said it has invested $1 billion in the state, however, and still has a major manufacturing site for data servers with more than 1,000 employees. But the facility Trump announced has become a Microsoft data hub that aims to train employees and manufacturers on how to best use artificial intelligence

I expect Canada will win the trade war the same way Vietnam won their war. The Vietnamese had a lot more fatalities but eventually outlasted the US. Canada's economy will be badly damaged, but eventually the lesser damage to the US economy will end the trade war.

It will be very bad for Canada, and there will not be gains in the US.

Canada will not be begging to be the 51st state. As if you would want a new big blue state.

On Monday, the Atlanta Federal Reserve's GDPNow model predicted that the U.S. economy would shrink by 2.8 percent in the first quarter of 2025, reinforcing fears that the country may be on the brink of a recession.

"The economy appears to be gagging on the uncertainty created by the haphazard economic policymaking happening in D.C.," Mark Zandi, chief economist at Moody's Analytics, said on X, formerly Twitter, on Sunday.

Big shifts in global government policy are stirring markets early Thursday.

In the U.S., the dollar weakened further and stock futures dropped, suggesting indexes could reverse the rally that followed a partial rollback of tariffs Wednesday. Investors are unnerved by the day-to-day changes in the White House's tariff policy, with delays, exceptions and extensions all on the table.

Overseas, investors dumped government bonds, as Germany's plans for a huge increase in spending rippled through markets. German bond yields extended Wednesday's historic surge, while Japanese long-term yields hit their highest levels since 2009.

We’re long overdue for a major correction, even recession. The swamp will make sure it happens on trumps watch. Some of us may suffer, but a recession may get prices back where they should be. Stuff in my area is ridiculous. Neighbor just sold 60 acres for 5 million.

In Trump's speech he clearly stated that there was going to be a low "especially in blue states" that don't have a growing population to offset economic woes. Most (proven) economic forecasters predict a slow down over the next 12 months with inflation dissipating and energy cost dropping. They also predict that with the new manufacturing, decreased legislation for existing manufacturing, increased job numbers, anticipated lower interest cost, and getting rid of the stranglehold placed on energy production that 2026 will start a record breaking economic growth. We have to stop inflation before anything good is going to happen. When the Biden administration dumped the massive amount of money and increased population into our system, it created a foreseen landslide. This is not rocket science, its a very simple cause and effect. It always takes longer to clean up the mess then it does to create it. Good times are coming again, we always bounce back smarter and stronger then we were before.
