I'm going to a 48V system in the houseboat, they even make 48 V alternators now, to convert the stocker on the diesel motor.

Probably some good reasons for Teslas running 400v... but anything worth doing is worth doing wrong at least once!

I'm meeting a guy at the boat for solar panels and he's talking about building a big house battery, Not sure how much pounding a DYI battery can take.

Going off-grid, off-diesel, still have diesel backup.

They have come out with a 48V alternator that pumps mega AMPS, with high Volts you use smaller wire, everyone is going high volts now

    the Cybertruck is 800 Volts

The Cybertruck is 48V for almost everything. This has been talked about in the industry for decades, but Tesla finally made it real. The Cybertruck has lots of innovation it it, but at the end of the day, its saddled with an expensive ugly body. Any sensible new EV is 800V. The other Tesla's pre date 800V. Our Kia EV6 is 800V. It makes for much faster charging.

And before anyone chirps in, of course, EVs are not viable for long distance boat towing. My EV6 will be fine to tow my boats 3 miles up the road to launch.

I don't know about using a battery system designed for land in a marine environment. It seems like a lot could go wrong.
