Tesla was super innovative. The 3 and Y had dramatically simpler cooling systems and electronics than the Mach E or VW ID4. Then Tesla introduced giga castings, which greatly simplified the body construction. The battery is the floor - the carpet and seats are mounted on the battery and then it’s bolted into a huge hole.

There is a lot of innovation in the Cybertruck, but the stainless body is expensive, it’s ugly, and no one has figured out towing with EVs

I have used our Kia EV6 to tow my boat trailer to the shop for maintenance, and I expect to tow boats occasionally for short distances. A lot of people need more than that from their pick ups.
