Then take a look at America interests. Last I checked it wasn’t Chinese companies flooding into America that was causing a problem is was alllllll that manufacturing business both practical and digital being outsourced to China and other nations all owned by American business men and corps that was causing the issues. Even worse on the practical side of things have you seen Chinas workforce? Do you realize they are basically finished? With the one child policy and the aging workforce they simply do not have the replacement cheap workforce to replace what they already have. Plus the children of Chinas growth won’t be so willing to work for the same pennies per day that the Mao crowd was. Many many factors happening behind the scenes that all play into strategy and all I can say is so far? Trump is making things happen. There has yet to be any harm done to Canadas economy and hopefully with continued efforts towards getting a firm grip on the migrant and drug issues there won’t be.

Now imagine the stuff I didn’t mention. The personal relationships out there. Of which I have to say Trudeau has been terrible at. Who likes the guy? I can’t think of one nation who looks to Trudeau for advice or support. Compare that track record to Mulroney who accomplished much foreign influence and had the respect of Many. Let’s hope the next PM can do the same.

like it or lump it things are changing and from what I can see? It’s for the better. Big time
I can’t find anyone that likes or approves of Trudeau, clearly some
do but he has less than 20% support. We unfortunately have a 3 party system and the third place party (think Bernie Sanders) is keeping him in power.
We have always swung above our weight on the world stage, Trudeau is the laughingstock of the planet and he is too much of a narcissist to realize it. Trump is a narcissist as well and while he aims at doing a lot of good things for America (I agree with almost everything) he doesn’t seem to grasp that America cannot survive alone.

To be clear there is ZERO migrant problem from Canada to the US, or drugs. It is in fact the opposite with the added problem of guns. We need a solid boarder, but not for the narrative being propagated.
Further, his latest BULL$HITT about banks is so FALSE (JPMorgan, Citi and a lot of others) operate here. They compile 50% of the foreign owned banking in Canada. It is this sort of BS or misinformation the makes all his other claims loose credibility.

I’m not suggesting this is all some perfected chess game. Quite the opposite in fact. There is some chaos involved for sure. Risks also attached clearly there is no action without risk. What I was suggesting is that there are also happenings behind the scenes that are influencing decisions at the top levels that are not in the public sphere is all. What those are your guess is as good as mine. One camp, lives off this method while another tries to stomp out the lies. Drain the swamp I believe was the concept last time round. This time clearly it’s being played differently and rightly so.

What I do know is commies primary currency is lies. That’s how they scam everyone into uploading all the peoples wealth to the state and remove any recourse for independent protest or review. This commie movement has been alive and thriving well above any acceptable level in the entire West. England right now is coming unglued by this nonsense. Canadas current govt too has drunk the cool aid and it looks to be correcting based on polls and general attitudes of Canadians about Trudeau and his nut jobs in cabinet. I surely hope so

In case you feel like supporting our friends and neighbors to the north, here's a list of things you can buy to show that support. And spare me your national loyalty bull****. This is right vs wrong. Blind loyalty to abusing and bullying an ally isn't nationalism, it's being complicit.

I agree with John S... Canada has been abusing the US for decades. They claim no fentenyl is coming across their border and then admit they don't track or report fentenyl. Bad neighbors need to be punished.

Great point Juhn, not your usual bull**** for once!

If it wasn't a problem, Trump wouldn't be asking for additional boarder security as an option to disband the tariffs. Trump is pretty straight forward and his team thinks miles ahead of most.

Speaking of SHOCKS, Consumer confidence is in the Chitter, everyone Hates America now, what could go WRONG

Hold on, the chit is just starting to fly, as the economy crashes, everyone will experience his GREATNESS

) — Ontario’s premier, the leader of Canada’s most populous province, announced that effective Monday it is charging 25% more for electricity to 1.5 million Americans in response to U.S. President Donald Trump’s trade war.

Ontario provides electricity to Minnesota, New York and Michigan.

“I will not hesitate to increase this charge. If the United State escalates, I will not hesitate to shut the electricity off completely,” Ontario Premier Doug Ford said at a news conference in Toronto.

“Believe me when I say I do not want to do this. I feel terrible for the American people who didn’t start this trade war. It’s one person who is responsible, it’s President Trump.”

Ford said Ontario’s tariff would remain in place despite the one-month reprieve from Trump, noting a one-month pause means nothing but more uncertainty. Quebec is also considering taking similar measures with electricity exports to the U.S.

Ford’s office said the new market rules require any generator selling electricity to the U.S. to add a 25% surcharge. Ontario’s government expects it to generate revenue of $300,000 Canadian dollars ($208,000) to CA$400,000 ($277,000) per day, “which will be used to support Ontario workers, families and businesses.”

The new surcharge is in addition to the federal government’s initial CA$30 billion ($21 billion) worth of retaliatory tariffs have been applied on items like American orange juice, peanut butter, coffee, appliances, footwear, cosmetics, motorcycles and certain pulp and paper products.

    Trade war intensifies
Trump launched a new trade war last week by imposing tariffs against Washington’s three biggest trading partners, drawing immediate retaliation from Mexico, Canada and China and sending financial markets into a tailspin.

Trump later said he has postponed 25% tariffs on many goods from Canada and Mexico for a month, amid widespread fears of a broader trade war.

Ford estimated it will add about CA$100 ($69) a month to the bills of each American affected.

“It needs to end. Until these tariffs are off the table, until the threat of tariffs is gone for good, Ontario will not relent,” Ford said.

Ford said Trump changes his mind every day, but if he continues to attack Canada he will do everything it takes to maximize the pain.

“Republicans, at least the ones I speak to, do not agree with President Trump but they are too scared to go out there and say it publicly,” Ford said. “It’s a shame but we need to end this.”

Trump has urged U.S. automakers to move auto production from Canada and Mexico to the U.S. Last week Trump granted a one-month exemption to 25% tariffs on vehicles and auto parts traded through the North American trade agreement USMCA after speaking with leaders of automakers Ford, General Motors and Stellantis. Ontario is the auto sector hub of Canada.

Premier Ford also noted Trump is threatening Canada with steel, aluminum and diary tariffs.

“I will do whatever it takes to maximum the pain against Americans,” Ford said.

Stephen Lecce, Ontario’s minister of energy and electrification, said the U.S. needs Canada’s power and it could impact other states as well as the three states often resale Ontario’s electricity. “It is regrettable we are here,” Lecce said.

Is it true Canada charges a 250% tariff on imported milk and cheese? Are reciprocal tariffs fair?

Canada has a quota system for imports, and above a certain volume, it imposes high dairy tariffs ranging from 201.5 percent to 313.5 percent. Before those quotas are met, dairy products enter Canada duty-free or subject to much lower rates.
Not much of an answer, actually... but it appears to be at least partly true.
