The 3 screws that hold the plate and seal in the front of the helm come out and you replace them with the slightly longer ones that come with the bobs kit...
...that is one way to do it.

If there are no screws in the face of the helm then how would you service the seal at the shaft? Are they garbage if they ever leak there? Not familiar with any other than SeaStar but all of those I have seen have the screws. I guess some really good two sided adhesive applied correctly would hold the trim bracket there if push comes to shove. RR

I've only seen one without an screws over covid on a bass boat, it leaked so I swapped the helm out. I've been using Promarines H systems for quite awhile now due to much better pricing, mainly the 2.4 helms and all of them have had the cover screws.

Thanks guys, from all I have seen here and, on the F/B group it appears that it will bolt to the 3 screws holding the seal cover on. I have ordered a switch.
BTW if anyone needs a switch, there is a seller o Ebay that has them new, for $45 w/ free shipping.

If I am not mistaken these blinker style units( single or dual ) were originally sold my Seastar. Mine are 24 years old and the helm had the holes already drilled in the face of the helm. You might contact Seastar and ask them if there is an adapter that would help.

Interesting.
I’m with Carter that I remember these being manufactured by Teleflex/Seastar.
The ones Bob’s is selling look just like the Teleflex first generation ones right down to the stickers they provide to put on the switch.
I remember speaking with an engineer at Teleflex when he was developing these. Wouldn’t talk much about it other than to say they were coming and how much better then what was offered at the time. Couldn’t talk much about them until the patent was issued.
Thinking Bob’s must have a licensing agreement with Teleflex.
Before these were out I ran the Bob’s push button you mounted on the steering wheel and had a coiled phone cord that ran under the dash. Was great with cable steering but not so good with hydraulic. Hydraulic doesn’t return to the same center location. First hydraulic steering I was running with the buttons made me quite aware of this when the cord wrapped up around the column and couldn’t steer!
Apologize for the long winded story! Back to the OP question. Like others have said you’d remove two or three screws to mount the trim switch and replace with longer screws. Some helms had extra drilled and tapped holes you could use to mount the switch. Wasn’t aware that some new helms don’t have drilled and tapped screws.
