Ultrasonic cleaners. How good do they work?

I wanted to see how good my little ultrasonic cleaner really works. I took apart this blown up 200EFI I bought. It was left outside uncovered for who knows how long. The block is cracked and everything inside the block is junk. But I wanted to see if I could clean up the pistons. They were really corroded. I had to hammer them out of the block. I threw 2 of them untouched in my little ultrasonic cleaner. I did not do anything else to them. Compared to what they looked like, they came out great!!! Even the rings are unstuck. Not perfect, I still would not use them. But some people probably would. They would probably work fine in a low performance motor if you replace can press out and replace the wrist pin. It is still frozen.

I have a cheap Vevor machine. 3 Liter does 1 carb at a time. They make many sizes.

VEVOR Knob Ultrasonic Cleaner 3L 40kHz Ultrasonic Cleaning Machine Knob Control Sonic Cleaner 304 Stainless Steel Ultrasonic Cleaner Machine with Heater & Timer for Cleaning Jewelry Eyeglasses Watches | VEVOR US

Using the proper cleaning solution helps too.

Amazon.com: NORTHWEST ENTERPRISES Ultrasonic Cleaner Solution for Carburetors and Engine Parts, Ultrasonic Cleaning Solution and Washing Compound for Ultrasonic and Immersion Washers - Concentrated (1 Gallon) : Automotive

I have bought 3 things from Vevor. The ultrasonic cleaner and an 8" Gas powered auger post hole digger. Both of those work great. I have used both several times with no problems. But I also bought a hydraulic steering system for my boat. The helm was defective out of the box. Spent the entire summer trying to get a replacement helm. After 4 months I ended up settling for a 20% refund. Customer service sucks.

I have used a cheap Harbor Freight U.C. for a couple years for gun parts cleaning. I am sold on them. They're also great for little carbs.

I cleaned a set of carbs. Here are a few pics. Before any cleaning. After cleaning with carb cleaner and a brush. And after ultrasonic cleaning.

As you can see in his pics us cleaners tend to take the gold zinc coatings off the carb bodies inside and out, leads to corrosion inside and out. I went back to the old school way of cold chemical bath, parts washer scrubbing than hot water rinse and blowing tons of air to dry and clear out passages.
For me, I like the results alot better, feel I have better results and never had all the gold zinc anodized coating come off doing it.
Do get me wrong uc cleaners are nice to have and work good on none plated internal carburetor parts and stuff like that, but it seems that I end up cold soaking the parts in the bath and scrubbing anyway to get the dried on water/soap residue and spots off the parts anyway.
    Just my two cents
