You will likely hear good and bad about all of them. I have had luck with Jake, from State Farm.

State Farm paid quick when my new whaler was flipped over in a bad storm. I have Allstate now, but no claims .

I've got two boats and a standup jet ski under Progressive. Under one policy is a 22' Progression, 26" Penn Yan, and standup ski all for under $1K.

There are only a few players in "high performance" boat insurance. Prime, Total Dollar, and X-insurance are dominating the market. If you can get a standard carrier to write your policy, take it. I have my "normal boats" with state farm and foremost-they are both great at cashing my checks every year.

What are you looking to insure (mfg, hp, top end speed...etc), it may help with the responses.

Ive never carried any boat insurance, considering myself self-insured. But, out of curiosity, is it not true that none will insure a performance boat that has a motor above the Coast Guard horsepower rating? Ex., my Allison is rated to 200 hp, but I run a 260 on it.

But if you "never carried any boat insurance," how do you know that they will or will not cover your Allison?

Not sure that is true as STV's don't even have a USCG HP rating except for 1 version of the Euro back in the mid/late 90's but most are getting them insured. On the flip side, your Allison did come with a plate and the STV's don't... that may be the catch.

I may go by my State Farm office today and ask about it.

To answer TwoStroked, my cousin has a Hurricane deck boat insured and he told me that was what he had found to be the case. But you're right, I need to find out for myself.
