    Man agreed as i have already experienced prop walk numerous times and it feels sketchy for sure when it hits (feels like a 40mph crosswind hits boat) Man i think that this may be what i do if i can get my boat builder to work something out with Mercury on a Cambered skeg unit then turn around and sell mine

    Hi!

    I have a 1985 Phantom 25 with a 450R, and first season the oil got to hot loosing its viscosity. So I installed an oil cooler. Pluss bleed oil / replace oil every season. I run the prop shaft approx 1,75-2 inches above the bottom. How high are you running yours? I use a Max5 27 ST 15,25 dia. I also experience turning left when running 85 mph +. Check out Chaudron powerboats double power steering set up to add more power to the HD steering. Costly but work well according to them.

    Cheers Toffen

    [QUOTE=Toffen;3438256]Hi!
    so my 500r has standard skeg non cambered, i built a torque tab out of jb weld on my skeg and it has so far fixed my torque steer issue and since then i have not experienced the power steering failing since I'm not constantly turning wheel left and creating excessive heat because the pump was working over time. The torque tab i built was the entire length of the tab at first which caused me to have to run a lot more trim than without and knocked off 8 mph lol, i have since been trimming down that tab by about 10% at a time and each time performance started improving. I'm now about 50% shorter and speed has come back and trims back to normal and still have no torque steer and the prop walking has also stopped. kind of hard to say about engine height because i do not have a pad on my cat but i have been able know to run engine higher than ever and boats now faster than ever without the prop walk to this point

    Hi!

    Great news Congrats. I will order with cambered skeg next time. I had cambered skeg om my Premix 300X many years ago.

    Are you happy with 500R? My 450R runs out of warranty July 2026, and I wonder if I shall sell it - and buy a 500R...

    Cheers Toffen
