Liability is not as much of a problem as covering the boats main policy. I have a few boats in LLCs but it still depends on the operators experience "all drivers must listed and anyone not listed is not covered". As long as you have a freestanding policy on the boat with 500K liability you can obtain a blanket policy for additional liability coverage. My 36 cat runs $8500.00 a year with a million in liability and I have an additional 5M liability under a blanket policy that cost another $1800.00 but extends onto anything that I own "as long as that vehicle has its own freestanding policy in effect". Guys that are buying new center consoles 50 MTI as an example with lots of documented ownership and experience are paying 25 and 30 due to replacement value.

Is it just me or what? With a price tag of $549K I expect a much better fit and finish than this. Hope this builder sees this and learns that the extra holes should be repaired before displaying the boat as finished and ready to purchase. I took the pic yesterday at the KW Worlds. Looks like it's missing something to fill that gap. I agree doesn't look finished.

I thought the insurance diversion was just counter measures .. after making a statement that 500 hp doesn't belong on anything less than 32' .

Forgetting that a 19' outboard boat went 151 mph ...

The real truth about Insurance company's in Florida. This is just one of about 100 videos ... of real world experience's ..

The unfinished windshield ... LOL They should have at least taped the two sharp edges together ... someone could get hurt ..

But what's the insurance fetish all about .. everybody knows .. it's not how much is it ? the question is how much is it a month ? The insurance is always factored in when there's a loan.

Well there was a two or three day insurance commercial over the weekend. Those ballers that pay cash in one lump sum, should donate some of the money they saved so that they can help hire someone like MotorManiaTV to cover the event .. it got to the point where I couldn't even watch it any longer ..

I can't tell if that's Dirty Money or M-Con .. Are they in first, or is that a prop wash in front of them ???

Honestly, If the announcer doesn't know, they should talk about what lap they're on .. or something else they do know.

    Picture quality ...

My Eliminator has been down for several years. But just before we took it apart I was looking at liability only coverage (hell, the boat doesn't have a lot of value and my concern is liability), after a long search, for something like $2,000 a year. The killer was, at least back then, the carriers would write the over 100 mph toy ocean racers because they took in a huge premium for the hull coverage. Not a lot of money in hull coverage in a 38 year old 21' speedboat.

Don't know that I buy that argument. I know of 2 and 3 million dollar sportfisherman owners paying a lot less than that for insurance. And these boats sit in salt water 24/7 365 days a year.

On another note, $550k for a 32 cat is crazy.

LOL .. yea , it's real easy to throw inflated numbers around for whatever reason. Actually sitting down to write the check between the buyer and seller or even an insurance agent (how did we get off on that tangent) can somewhat differ ...

There was a good thread elsewhere a couple weeks ago about "wasn't boating more fun when everyone had 16' - 19' hull's ?" Simpler times for sure. Maybe we didn't know what we were missing. I've watched many friends go broke trying to keep up.

While these million dollar boats are nice. If your a millionaire. For those of us that are not, or maybe those who are but choose to not spend a million dollars on a hobby .. show them all you want, but don't try to make the average guy feel less than, because we all started somewhere. And yes, I still have a pretty good memory ..

Turbo Eddie .. My apologies for my end of helping your thread going off the rails.
I enjoyed our conversation at the car show in Stuart a while back. Genuine nice guy, as was Ray. I wish the new owner of Hellcats all the success in the world.

Joe is 100% correct. I know firsthand and many of my friends have the exact same issues. As for a fishing boat having lower rates. It is all about value of the boat, however the bigger factor is what the underwriter sees as the risk of insuring a boat that is capable of running 130 mph ++ vs a fishing boat that at most might hit a dock too hard. Another factor of insurance is where you keep your boat.

Chaz, no big deal about the thread drift, this site is good for that. I think the new owners of hellkat have money to burn. they spent a ton of money on the 32. carbon and all. so I now have 2 boats the hellkat and a ranger tug 25. picked it up last week. time to do some cruising with the wife. hit 45 mph yesterday. AC, radar, AP, frig etc.

I don't know whether I buy that fishing boat seems to me my experience around a lot of 2-3 million dollar fishing boats that aren't charter tend to do real big damage. I have seen many so called sport fishermen like to partake in liquid spirits one in particular came in to dock out of plane and took about ten more boats in the marina. Granted the accident rate might not be as high or frequent but the cost is there. Chaz hit the nail on the head with that video I own a modest 3/2 cbs home 2 miles from bay had tornado touch down a block over from my house no damage yet in less than 10 yrs my insurance has gone up over 300%. At 130 mph I would hope the impaired factor would be less. .02 Greed controls the insurance market I know many retired people who own their house and can no longer insure and a quite few boat owners as well.

The boat is beautiful and I feel the insurance are doing an injustice to the builder of such a fine vessel.
