    New Mercury Racing 150R and 200R V6s

It's funny because I did an article on the possibility of an R-series V6 back in January. I think the 3.4-liter V6 as a Mercury Racing engine is something that could really be a great application for smaller single-outboard lake running boats. Being a Mercury Racing variant, those engines will be producing probably around 10-15% more power than what is indicated. I think it could get interesting if they add a small supercharger to those. They're available with the Torque Master and Sport Master gearcases.

    Full release here.

What is that market? Are there current models running 15" compatible transoms?

Was there ever an actual market for big 15" shaft motors? Not including full race motors. These are not really race motors. They come with full warrantees of up to 8 years. The APX is the current actual race motors.

I was the market for the short shaft 200XS. Well there were a handful of others. Not very many. Of course that motor was stupid expensive and had no warranty. The new 200R price seems reasonable and it has a warranty.

    Thumbs down

Great so Merc gave us a motor that makes 50hp less then a Promax and weighs 100lbs more. I wished/hoped/thought they would have come out with something lighter and more powerful. Close only counts in horse shoes and hand grenades. At least it burns 87 octane and has a full warranty.

About 10k more then a Yamaha 150 tuned to 231. Leaves some room in the budget for rigging and modding the lower unit for LWP.

Are the new 150 & 200R only available with DTS or can they be hooked up to a non digital system with livorsi gauges and a in-control foot throttle and shifter? I heard the 250R can be purchases in either configuration.

DTS only for the 150 and 200R. Mechanical only for the 250R.
