    1986 V-King 1988 Merc 200 questions...

I set up a 1986 Hydrostream V-King with a 1988 Merc 200 carb with the oil injection removed, today, with a 26" pitch inline chopper I hit 79mph on my gps. I know I'm turning between 6,000-6,500rpms, is using Amsoil mixed at 50:1 good enough? At what speed does a stock Mercury gearcase blowout? And finally this Merc seems to have a "rough" idle, it doesn't die out or anything like that but what can I check to try to smooth it out? Thanks!

Running a fishing motor in the 6,000+ rpm range, I like 40:1 mix, but that's just my opinion.

A good set of reeds can help with idle, but it also depends on what your idle rpm is set at while in the water. Maybe try and bump it up a couple hundred.
