Mercury V6 Blackmax 135/150HP? Year?
Hey y’all ,
looking for some info about this motor that I got my hands on recently.
I seem to believe it’s a very early 2.0L block, the bottom end doesn’t have any sort of casting marks where an oil pump would be.
It has 1382-6425 WH-12 1 Carbs, 5751883 bottom end numbers, 3 26 0 date code (I think) , 79714 , 1026-7261 heads. The motor bracket had the old style square three ram trim pump, with serial number A942330
let me know what you guys think year and horsepower this frankin-merc is. Trying to see if it’s going to be worth building it up faster or unloading it and buying a 2.4 of some sorts. Tried to add two pictures from my iPhone , probably awful but it’s something.
thanks

Hard to tell from the pictures but it looks like it could be a very early 2.0 block with the original head bolt pattern. if it is it's going to be hard to get parts for it and not the most durable.

yep, 150... being first gen. wouldn't be a good idea ta me... but if it still has good comp (115 min.) ya might give it shot.. wouldn't waste spendin' any amount of $$$ or labor for any extras though............. jmo.

...1976 thru 1979 motor. could be a 175. need to check serial number to verify though. there were many more 175's sold than 150's. they did not offer a 135 back then...

The serial burried behind the trigger timing arm , because it doesn’t have a freeze plug number near the flywheel?

Looks almost identical to my 1750 from that era. Is the only difference carbs?

From what other things I’ve read swapping carbs on a 135hp and some other small **** pretty much makes it a 150hp, but I guess certain early years they didn’t make a 135hp
