Hull Texture or waxing.
I am not finding just what I am looking for, sure it is out there. And not anything recently, which may be out there.
For performance I know super smooth and polished may not be the right thing.
Nice wax on the bottom can and will allow water to try to attach, where as on a top surface, say on a car the water will bead up. That is in the air.
It is recommended to me to sand the bottom surface with 1,000 grit.
I have also seen 400 grit.
As I clean the bottom of any oxides I intend to use 1,00 grit, wet. Probably with a DA sander for the bulk.
Should I leave it like that? Or block sand across the running surface?
Then I expect the performance change is for the most part not measurable.
Wax on no wax probably makes a bigger difference if I am correct.
My boat will be a trailer queen stored in my yard and only wet on play days.Regards,
Charlie North

I doubt anyone will recommend waxing the bottom. Maybe to a point just below the waterline for easy cleaning.
I strongly suggest not to use a DA on the bottom. Use a long firm block with strokes lengthwise. I guess the grit suggestions will vary. I tend toward 220. I have a drag boat buddy that likes 80. That seems extreme to me but, he was unwavering. Whatever you decide the focus is straight and sharp edges.
Side note on wax bottom. I witnessed a boat slide out of a dry stack rack just after owner waxed its bottom.Jim

Dropping out of a rack, that must have been frustrating to figure out not to mention getting the insurance to accept the case.

From what most I’ve read 400 grit is good to go. Sharpen all edges too helps. That said I did stumble upon this site some time ago. I have not used this product so I don’t know anything pro/con about it.

I have just recently been looking at Speedcoat and doing a search for other similar products. No decisions yet.

Wax is out 400 is in. For those that say the aft of the pad is the important area, works for me since that is where my concentrated work area is. Very little work from me today, heat had me to my limit along with other tasks. We are hosting a youth aviation event on Saturday, I think all the ducks are swimming with the current so we are set. Or wait, Aviation, geese flying with the wind that would be,
