Hydrostream vector set up with 260

Pick up a vector that has a cmc powerlift mounted a 260 merc. Looking for set recomendation as far as motor height and prop and getting rid of the porpoising, thanks

Unfortunately no amount of engine height or prop change will resolve all of the porpoising on this boat. It just the hull design.

Would that be a good reason to modify the pad?

Ya don't fix that issue with the pad. If you change the pad for slow speed you will have a POS at speed when the hull wants to run on just the pad. If you want the that hop gone, you have to add some material as the outer port and starboard side of the hull from the last lifting strake to the outer side of the hull works, hell Howard wanted to get a can of bondo to fix my viper one night! They don't need to be tall, half inch or something. And when you are at speed they are not in the water. something like below. I never really needed anything like this, I never drove around at 30-40 mph, always idle or to the floor!

Modifying the pad wont solve the porpoising. If you search TexasVector he built a sweet Vector and added some wedge shaped ramps under the wing area of the hull before gel coat. This was a trick Pipkorn himself devised some time ago iirc and this is what will solve most of the porpoise. I thought about doing it to my V-king and then opted not too. Going back again I may have done it. I had a Valero and another V-king before restoring this one and they didnt porpoise bad at all. Neither does the one I have now except for one major difference. I happily cruised my other two hulls around at 30-40mph where the porpoising began. That felt like a nice cruise speed in those hulls. This restored one? Feels like Im literally crawling at those speeds and I can cruise it at 50 just as easy. At 50, it porpoises, so I cruise 60-70 which is fine when Im solo but it freaks out my kids and wife a bit.

Anyways look up that Vector build you'll find pics somewhere of the hull mods to stop porpoising.

do not touch the pad. the porpoising is annoying but can be resolved with little "trim tabs". I've had a pair come with my vector but never bolted on because i couldnt bring myself to screw into a nice new transom for them. I have seen them on other vectors and it cuts down on the hop a decent bit. I'm sure someone on here has a picture but they're like 3x3" angle and they would be out of the water once youre on the pad but perfect for cruising

Could probably use some high quality double sided tape to practice making the correct size and angle for these too before committing to laminating them on or screw. Ouch, screw? Not under my hull lol

i made some nice ones, bought a pair of self-leveling t tabs. tossed the actuators away. bought encapsulated ss turn-buckles about 10'' long, 2 per tab the project came out great, adjustable & they look bad azz. tabs are small bennet for small run-a bouts . put em on my skater18. a must see can send pic to any ph# there about 6''x7''.
