    Clever props

Most everyone knows rake adds bow lift . but since clevers are general for stern lift. What do you accomplish with a high rake clever? Still more bow lift or overall lift? What is considered high, 15degree/20 degree?
    Always trying to learn.
    Thanks

Can't really answer your first question. I can answer the second. The older Mercury cleavers, and Signature cleaver, 15 degrees is standard for both, except the Merc 32p at 18. The new cnc merc, you can order whatever you want.
Yamaha drag (semi cleaver) are more like 18. Had a Signature drag 4 that looked like 20.

Is there a accurate way to measure rake as I have stock 30" (3 blade), 30" (4 blade humpback) & 32" (3 blade) all 14.5" diameter stock Mercury cleavers and I am curious to see if they are 15 & 18

Sure this wouldn't be considered legit, but this is a rc heli pitch gauge. You could probably build something like this easy enough. Or you could download a angle finder to your phone.
Proved myself a liar, as that is a Signature 35p cleaver. They must of made them in few different rake angles.

I don't think that is an accurate way to measure rake.

I found this it may help original question.

Technically your right Jim. I think its measured on the centerline of the blade. The problem with that is you give 5 people a pencil, and you end up with 5 different centerlines.
Two different schools of thought on rake. Mine has better pics.

I have a pair of 32 18 degree and a pair of 33 15 degree cleavers in my garage. I'll look tomorrow to see how trailing edges measure.
