On $26,000 for a brand new 3.4 V6 with a brand new big pork chop Sportmaster from the shelf? People would easily pay $26k with 3+2. to get 240hp and 87 octane.

I had forgotten that you could use the cowl off the 200APX.

You could also offer the 4.6 TQ case as I believe that has water intake holes in the front of the nose if I recall correctly.

You have to be light in total weight IMO
What's a new sporty ... $10,000.00 and change .. plus the $26.000.00 motor. Pretty close to the 40K I mentioned. Tax, title, dealer destination, dealer installation.
What ??? You want to do a repower .. dude take a seat at the back of the bus ...

I guess we will have to agree to disagree. It still would not sell in my opinion as their is no demand for smaller performance outboards these days. Everyone says they would buy one tomorrow but in the end, no one ponies up the money.

I completely agree. However, it needs to be affordable. Like, real affordable for everyone to make it competitive and fun.

I don’t understand what boats the 60R is for. It’s geared wrong for a small fast boat. 10 mph slower then a Formula R on a Tuff 16

Temper, Temper. Told you your angry.
But you are wrong. You can put Biden in the same cell as Trump. That would be the best thing for the country. Only the most afflicted with Trump Devotion Syndrome would try to blame 33 years of worldwide inflation on which schmuck is currently in office. It's funny how when the world first shut down for the stupid pandemic, everybody said it would cause massive inflation a year or two from then. Now that it happened, "It's all Biden's fault!" Politics suck dude! Almost all politicians are criminals and there are extremists on both sides!

Try not to be so angry. Accept some things for the way they are. You will live a happier life. Things have changed. They are going to change again. They are never going back to the way they were. This whole argument started because we were discussing what Mercury should / could do with its current high performance product line. Like the four stroke motors or not. You have to admit they produce impressive power. 2 years ago I went on a 43 Midnight Express with 5 450R's. Wow are they impressive motors. Instantaneous response. Easily pushed that giant boat past 80MPH with a lot more to go.

P.S. I will give you they try to charge $10 for a $.10 O ring at the counter. But that is actually a 10,000% increase

Airdryers for engines tend to be costly which would defeat the purpose of being cheap to run
most of the time you can't run top speed any way

But somebody with amazing machining skill could fit a procharger under the cowling

    Well, that was inaccurate...

Most people simplify complex situations, just stating results without considering all the factors involved, which brings us to the

    Present situation.

They lack critical thinking; they go with what fits their established beliefs without looking at ALL factors involved.

Like what happened years prior to bring us to such events presently...

Nothing is as simple as it seems.

Who cares about the side bar nonsense.

Lets get back to talking about outboard motors and a V6 R offering

I theorize not a lot which is my point. Even at this price level, most people shy away.
