Advice on fixing my transom and if I should remove top cap
Title pretty much says it all. I bought a 1988 ski boat and when I took off the rub rails and aluminum trnasom plate I noticed alot of craking at the transom and the wood probably has been exposed. I want to so it right and I noticed some cracking at the nose under rub rail. I know the drain plug is bad and there is a bad fibreglass job in one corner of the floor near transom. Might have to rip the floor up too but it feels solid everywhere and is painted a Matt looking black. I would like to make it look nice with no rub rail. Thanks in advance.
Some pictures only ones I have it's put away for winter.

Welcome to the site. Nice looking boat. I would not remove if the transom area is all that needs repair. Cracking under the rub rail may just be filler and is fairly common. Good luck.
