1978 Glastron CVX 20 jet boat electrical

    Hello,

    Thanks for adding me!!

I'm doing a full restoration on my grandparents CVX 20 and it came to me as a shell, now 10 years later it's almost ready but the whole process has been like building a puzzle without a picture.
Complete new wiring has me a bit confused or maybe I'm second guessing myself? Here are some of my electrical components-

MSD rtr Marine distributor # 121-83506
    Mini high torque 460 starter # 620-70109
    Power master alternator 100 amp # pwm-8500
Universal 20' jetboat wiring harness #620-08840
    Start solenoid kit #62008816
Terminal Block Style Wiring Harness - 460 Ford #620-08803

Can the alternator be wired directly to the battery instead of through the starter? It seems the diagram wants the alternator hooked to the starter. I have two new marine optima batteries running parallel, and I would like the alternator to be hooked straight to the battery with a mega fuse on the power wire. Is this ok? Would this delete the orange wire on the distribution block that says "charge post on alternator" and the black line the diagram has that says "alternator charge wire battery 12V post on starter"?

I had not seen your post till now, the output of the alternator simply needs a direct connection to the Batt, The main cable to the starter is generally convenient but not the only way. If you have a more desirable way there is no reason to not use it.
I am currently installing an L92 in my CVX 20 and using the original truck wire harness and GM spliced the alt output into the main cable to the starter. I am staying with that although I am installing a more compact non GM alternator.
    Regards,
