Twister vs Argo vs Skater Vs ????? 22-25' ish single cat/tunnel

Always thought the idea of a single tunnel in the 22-25 ish range would be a good boat for our waters. (Lake St. Clair, St Clair/Detroit Rivers)

Ran with a 24 twister this weekend and it looked like it rode great and really ate through the chop. (I was in my Triad V21, so a big difference was expected)

There was the 24' skater with a 300x on Long Island years back, the 25 Predator bounces around, and Argo's/twisters. The 21 Liberators/Eliminators are not quite what I am after, a 21 skater is a consideration, but I was after a touch more length.

I think a true tunnel is my preference based on the thought it would be better in rough then a center pod boat? (Please correct me if I am wrong)

Curious to hear peoples experiences with boats in this size range...

I have owned and rigged several 24 Twister Wide Body a 23 Argo and 24 Skater The Twister and Argo with 300HP will be as fast or faster than most 24 Skater with twins. They race offshore in Europe class C-3 HP Limit is 200xs class record with 2 on board and no external pick up is 109 and C-3 is

starting in US next year WITH 225 POWER . They run well in the rough and still hang with the little boats. The 4 Seat Twister is a bit wider but the new 4 seat Argo is getting closerand Todds new 24 Wicked should run with pack.

Having never spent any time in a 24 skater .... those i've seen tend to hop quite a bit, but seem to eat the chop up quite well. Does the twister hop in calm conditions or at certain speeds as badly? What about a 'minimum' speed? When my wife is with me she appreciates a few minutes cruising in the 40's checking out the views, annoying as heck or doable?

Saw a 24 twister 250R combo on instagram and that seemed like a cool option.

The Twister never Hops Argo does not also.Only small cat I have run that does not hop.My 24 Twister wide body with 300X has been low 120s with no external pick up , Adam had 23 Argo to 127 i think with hull mounted pick up with a 300xs .They cruise best at 70 when they become lifted at 40 it is kind of like a pontoon a lot of drag no hop but not fun.I have rigged a 23 ARGO with 300R ran 117-119 with 2 big guys and 24 Twister with 300R side ram power steer 4 seats console pretty deluxe still will go 120 with right set up.

Can't go wrong with a 23 argo or 24 Twister but looking forward to seeing the 1st 23 Trick with 300R.

I have a 15" 300XS reliable and low C.G. no Hop and plenty Fast.

All the boats you listed are great boats, they just have different purposes. The twister and argos are the new hot item big wide tunnel very low weight for size. Like always your best best is to go for a ride in one in different conditions true cats run different in all conditions … empty loaded ,with the waves against…. Etc. Just remember there no free lunch what you gain in speed for hp you lose in stability.

I really like the half cockpit you have going, this is what I want to do to boat and add a targa top incase of rain.

My 02 cents in this discussion is that a twin boat is much safer. A second motor to counter act the torque and a second skeg to keep the boat going straight is a big deal if you want to go fast in your home waters. I have spent a fair amount of time boating on St. Clair and smallest thing I would consider for running there is a 28 Skater, 30 Spectre, or 28 fat cat. The 24 Skater you are referring to (red/white with single 300X) was one of my old boats but we had twins on it. A 24 skater with twins is an absolute blast but a 28 does everything better, a 30 spectre is a good boat for the money but won't be as fast a 28. The bigger the boat the more you will enjoy making runs further South. If its at all possible, I highly recommend getting something with twin 4 strokes. I have had a few boats and you are correct that you don't want a center pod for where you are running.

If money is not a real issue, a 32 or 36 Doug Wright is an incredible rig (you have a few running around there now)-Rambo's new 36 is a badass.

The wife likes the lid on in the winter months at the Parker River House.

    I don't want twins.

Towing my 28 sunsation got tiring every weekend, 21-24-ish is about as big as I want to go.

I run my 21 Triad on LSC almost every weekend. 70 Miles on Sunday...
