For some reason l like the crossover on top for thermostats. This way likely requires a different fitting for your port thermostat housing
If your going to run washers instead of stats, imo, the crossover ain't worth doing just tee off what you have to the adapter plate.

So when I get the correct popper valve cover there will be no more hose from there, is the perpendicular leg of that lower T going to the pisser? And other outlet going to the adaptor plate? (Where mine is currently coming from the poppet). If so that makes sense to me, if not then I’m confused by your pics (hopefully I’m not an idiot).

Will laser cut a plate to mount solenoids in front of EFI box tomorrow and then get wired up. Missinh poppet parts should be here later this week and hopefully she’s on the water this weekend!

ok fuel system is all buttoned up & happy. I made a SS trim solenoid bracket, started wiring up to the diagram above and realizing this is a “3 wire system” and not going to work for me because my trim is 2 wire and needs the polarity reversed *♂️. Looking for proper diagram for this setup now, will solenoids still work?

also anyone know where in SoCal / Orange County I could possibly get a poppet cover and the metal sandwiched plate referenced above? I ordered online, showed it would be here this week and Ofcoarse tracking shows delivery Saturday and we are trying to leave for the river Friday after work *♂️. Could I possibly get away running no poppet this weekend? It seemed to build pressure on the hose, I don’t plan on driving it super hard, just want to run it through it’s paces and monitor the engine and learn how the boat drives

First off thank you very much to Baker343 for the poppet parts! Should hopefully be buttoning this thing up and test running locally tomorrow!

I fought the lower unit for a couple hours last night. Ended up getting it on but had to suck it up the last half inch with the bolts. It went up ok without too much pressure but I couldn’t get it fully seated without using the bolts. I’m a little leery to leave it as is but everything was aligned, it’s shifting properly, spinning the flywheel in F&R is spinning the prop correctly, water tube was lined up, etc. I did have to pull it apart once to mess with shift shaft and did notice some crud on the driveshaft splines so I think that is what I was fighting…what do you guys think? Try it as is or drop it and continue fighting it? Should have trim relays today and may try to cobble up a way to make a flush adaptor for the sportmaster. To try everything before pulling it to the lake an hour away

Also the ratcheting lower ratchets the direction the prop should be spinning IE when in forward it ratchets when you spin the prop clockwise. In reverse it seems to ratchet both ways but spinning the flywheel does spin the prop in reverse so I’m really hoping it’s happy

Nice of Baker to help ya out!
Every thing you describe is normal except ratcheting both ways. It probably depends on the vintage of the case, but most (up till the later years) should just ratchet clockwise in forward gear, spin freely in neutral, and lock up both ways in reverse.

Shouldn't ratchet both ways in reverse.
Is your shift cable lined up in the N position when in neutral.
May have to disconnect the shift cable and manually move in the reverse direction a little to grab reverse.
Also, send a picture of the shift and throttle cable guide and bracket

Yes nuetral is in nuetral, from the sounds of it I think it’s partially engaging in reverse and just not FULLY grabbing possibly. Highly likely it needs a cable adjustment as this combo has never been assembled or ran together yet. Will send pics tonight when I get home

You guys wouldn’t be concerned having to use the bolts to pull the lower unit up the last 1/2”?
