    Marine hose is a better hose. It is not just more expensive because its marine. To get a Coast Guard rating it needs to pass a burn resistance test. Its is generally thicker and resists kinking too. The fill hoses are wire reinforced.

    i also believe the "original" hose in OP's boat is replacement hose some backyard idiot put on it. you use clear hose for a few minutes if you suspect air bubbles.

    Considering how long the vinyl hose was exposed to the elements, they held up surprisingly well. they werent stiff as i thought, taking blows with a hammer no problem.. boat was ouside for a long long time.gel coat wasted.

    Are you sure it was vinyl and not Tygon (genuine, not counterfeit)? The real Tygon will behave something like you say. It hardens but not drastically, and is clear. If it weren’t for legality/liability it might actually function pretty well. I still use J1527 myself.
