My parents are selling their cottage in SW Michigan. My dad bought this 40 hp Merc 350 new. The Mercury has spent its entire life at the same house on the same lake. Only used on the weekends in the summer. Stored on a boat lift during the summer and in the garage in the winter after proper cylinder fogging. It is white with 3 black stripes and above prop exhaust. He believes it is a 1956 model, and is positive he got it prior to being married in 1960. It is a 15" shaft and electric start. It was removed from service in 1973 and put in the garage. it has been there since, with occasional cylinder fogging and turning the crankshaft with the pull start. It comes with the white single handle Kiekhaefer controls and the engine still has the cable steering bracket on the front. It ran fine when retired. This is a 40 hp 4-cylinder engine that weight about 115 pounds. It has to be gone in September 2023. The engine is in southwest Michigan, where you would be picking it up.

According to the oldmercs website, it appears to be a 1961 motor. Looks like a long shaft model where the lower unit was replaced or repainted black. Good luck with the sale. You might want to post it for sale on the antique outboard motor club website.
