    porting with timing wheel

Other than porting off deck height measurements I’d like to know how to properly port the ports with a degree wheel and timing them correctly. As far as blow down timing separations all the not and gritty. Trying to learn how to do it the right way. Any info and help is appreciated thanks!!

For me, im just looking for a general idea on how to measure for a porting job. I think I've found what im looking for between here and various others. More or less general knowledge for what im looking at and where the powers made and taken away.

you use the timing wheel to find the port height.. you want to put the piston at the top of the port which ever your wanting to raise.. for instance exhaust.. u set piston on the inside. to top of port were it closed set you degree wheel with a pointer any weres move the degree wheel to 0.. now you have your wheel set.. move your piston to the top of the block.. be so use thick plate across the block thats flat bolted down to move the piston to top dead center.. now ur setup move the piston up to the top dead center and count the degrees this is your port height.. so say you moved it from 0 to past 90 to 40 that would be 1.40 port height... now say you want 1.55 raise your piston to till the degree wheel is at 55 degrees .. then scribe the sleeve slightly at top of piston.. to give you a reference point to know were you want it and start cutting.. once done verify and move to the next port height you want on the others...

just curious how much set back are you running? I have one too with a 245 bridgeport and want to go fast. testing this weekend I hope.
