Bullet 17vee pro max
max
Hey guys,
I have a 1989 bullet 17vee with a promax 225.i rebuilt transom last year primarily used for hot rodding and bas fishing. Jack plate bobs cone blinker trim seastar pro steering chris carson reeds bosh fuel pump exhaust can removed and bobs tuner.it runs fenomenal. With my 2to1 gear case spinning a 26 bullet cut chopper i can do 83 mph in 800 ft. With my 1.87 same 26 chopper she gets a top speed of 90mph ready to fish..and yea im spinning some rpms but i dont hold her there.my question is i would like to start maybe racing in dsra performance bass and ski class..just dont know what times and mph they running..i know most run 1/8 mile. Boat weights 1356 lbs with me in it so i will have to add ballast...to meet the weight class of 1450 i believe. Do you think this set up could be competitive

I'm not an expert and stand to be corrected and I don't know DSRA rules but if its similar to ODBA I think you would need to weight 1525lbs... I think the competitive guys in that class are running low 90's in 800ft and I think they are at that speed before 800ft and just out of RPM's.. Getting out the the hole quick seems to equal lower ET's than running the most MPH possible at 800ft... Think modified 20 pitch yamaha drag props with 1.87 gears... If you go out there with a 26 chopper and 1.87 gears on a 225 promax you are going to get left sitting still at the starting barge. Holeshot is EVERYTHING. You need big RPM to compete if your running a 2.5 merc.
Just my 2 cents

I ran the bullet yesterday with our bouys marked 800ft.
6mph start.after getting trim set with a 22 drag copy i was able to get 8.95 seconds best 91.7 mph.still running 12 volt trim so taking off with the trim up a little and hull bounces twice then gone...im out running my trim for sure. Was able to turn 8700rpm. Got to look into that too

Most are in the high 70s and low 80s. Your not proping for mph there. All about et!
Edit: also find the DSRA lake racer rules and for bass and ski and add 250lbs to your motor combination
For ODBA add 200 i think it isLast edited by Deznuts3570; 08-29-2023 at 08:37 PM.
