200 Mercury EFI -- Wintech
I've heard Nick Winski at Wintech Machine knows Mercury 2.5 Liter engines, so I figured I would start here. Plus Wintech happens to be in my back yard.
I'm not into racing, but I would imagine my 2.5l mercury shares some of the same basics that he specializes in.
Does he still do work? Website email address bounced back. Does he only work high performance engines?
I am contemplating having my 2000 Champion 190SX repowered, or engine rebuilt.
Was running up the Mississippi and my 2000 year Mercury 200HP EFI broke down. It left two holes in each side of the top of the power-head. I had the boat for about 13 years. Engine always ran great. Had it out on Lake Michigan two times before that this year.
Trying to decide if it is worth rebuilding a 23 year old motor. I'd still have an old lower unit, ignition, fuel/oil system and etc..
At the same time the boat is 23 years old so it's hard to justify dropping ~20k on a new motor. I do still like the boat.
If you have any other suggestions, I am all ears.

I was planning on giving him a jingle, on the number listed. Thank you for letting me know.

Thank you for the responses.
Yeah their recommendation was the same as everywhere else. To cut my loss on my EFI. It's a production engine, so it's not worth rebuilding, due to age.
