Ostensibly new motors, already endurance tested by Mercury and found fit for sale. NYC to St. Augustine, They lasted a bit under 1000 miles (and hopefully will be fine for a couple thousand more). Running the numbers, that’s 20 hours at an average of 50mph, or 40 hours at an average of 25 mph. Not sure what is particularly special about that, unless they are severely modified to within a centimeter of their lives, race-only type things.

I keep hearing broken prop shafts occur a lot, especially on the 450R

..and being that MercuryRacing is trying a new prop shaft on the 500R makes it more impressive

As the crow flies, (over open water) it's aprox. 200 miles shorter. Knock 3 hours off for that. Looks like 18 hours to me.
Not much in the way of flyin off the peaks .. but a whole lot of holdin their drinks up to the camera. Look at us .. we pitched a boo game .. got a deeper discount on this hooptie .. and I'm sure it's for sale .. or sold by now .. just look at all fake records it holds .. some poindexter has got to have it at any price ...
Where are the rest of the videos They Promised???

my gut feeling is that they are regrouping for another try for an epic run. wx is key and it couldn't be better than now.
dosent someone have connections to to them?

Talked to a buddy of mine He received a response from the Howes concerning the delay He asked that at a minimum post photos of the run from nyc to north carolina. The Howes said they are trying between their 2 jobs and staring a new boat business they are trying to find time.

Maybe they should talk to Tim Sharkey on how to post on-board videos timely

    Foiled, Atlantic Crossing

If anybody was watching the news this weekend, you might’ve seen the fella trying to cross the Atlantic who stopped off the Georgia coast. He was in some sort of contraption called a hamster wheel. It’s sort of floating device that looks like a big Beachball of clear plastic, and is powered by, the mark one human idiot, he was equipped with plenty of baloney a little bit of bread a couple of gallons of water and a great lack of common sense. Perhaps we could interest him in a Miami New York run? I don’t know if he’d be able to break gentry’s record, but it would be interesting. Much easier to keep pace with and he wouldn’t have to worry about broken lower units. Maybe leg cramps. No, I’m not trying to detract from the HOWE‘s record attempt. I think it’s a great thing and I wish them all the best. I just like to add a little humor to everything best always a Amberjack.

Damn, I wonder how Garwood and Sam Griffith with the equipment that the Howe2live crew are running would do on a record re-run I bet there’s some keyboard warriors out there that could simulate this. It would be interesting.

Since this post references a High performance offshore record, accolades to The Patriotic Duty Outerlimits Team for breaking the San Francisco to Long Beach Record. Event was live streamed and under UIM oversight governance, and validation. To put this in perspective you cannot drive that distance on the highways in that time legally.
