She is a Special Girl to last through all that, not many of those around

In 1978 new 18ft Hydrostream went down to the Niagara river to put in and my girl friend refused to get in the boat, she said I'll be right here waiting for you...

Their post "adventure" listing shows "official times". If they want to go for a boat ride or try to get close to Cleetus McFarland's you tube count, god bless em.
But the whole thing is just a look at me promo, which is fine, but don't blame a typical summer squall as a reason for tapping out. Atlantic ocean much ...

Here's a real "Iron Man" for ya ...

I held to the Dan Bongino rule and not commenting for 48 to 72 hours. I look forward to the mini series.

What a run. I doubt any of the board members badmouthing their journey have done anything more then 20% of what they just did in that time frame. Boating is fun until the waves turn minutes to hours....

I doubt you read or comprehended 20% of what was written. Other wise you wouldn't have done the exact same thing as the ill-labeled bad mouthers .. by calling their so called record attempt ... a journey.

See what ya did there ...

So heading towards PGA inlet .. from nine mile rock / west end and a summer squall forms out of no where .. do you :

    A) hold up your cell phone and take selfies ?

    B) already know your in the devils triangle, man-up and keep going ?

    C) turn around and go back the 40 miles of the 60 mile "journey" . Leave the boat at Port Lucaya .. hire a captain to wheel the boat back to the world, while you fly home ..

IMO, all the crap started when they called it a “record attempt”.

    Define record?

When we were holding the Rumble on the River we held a “top speed” contest.
    Top speed?

As defined by a $99 hand held GPS that we handed each entrant then gave them 15 mins in the boat to put a number on it.

    ”Kilo Record”?
    Nope.

    UIM approved?
    Nope

    APBA?
    Nope

Did we call it a “record”?
    Nope

Did people come from far and wide to risk life and limb for a $100 kitty?
    Damn skippy!

The wording of their press release could have prevented 100% of the chaos.

Remember Reggie Fountain throwing down the gauntlet when other vee bottom offshore boat builders were claiming huge speeds?

He set it all up, called it a “Kilo Run”, set up a surveyed course and used certified timing equipment.

    As per APBA/UIM rules.

    And it shut everybody up!

In other words, don’t call it a record run if it wasn’t one.

If they had said they knew of the records and wanted to see how close they could get but was for fun only……

As in, we’re not spending the money/effort to support our claims, their efforts/results would have been just as impressive!

As in, “it ain’t a record but man that was fun”!

And,”if you think it’s easy, let us know when your done with your attempt”!

The fact they even did what they did is damned impressive!

Seems as those days of bad asses on the water are long gone.

I still remember standing in Pepe Nunez’s (sp?) showroom, in shock, as he pointed to a picture of him in a 24’ Pantera w/twin 2.4 Mercs completing a Miami to NY run!

I'd rather be competitive w/junk I built in my garage than win w/stuff I bought.

I refuse to allow common sense to interfere w/my boat buying decisions.

What's probably more impressive is the money earned on their youtube channel.

    My statement stands.

Who is wanting to run with them on their next outing? It sounds like there will be plenty of upcoming runs show them "Howe its done".

Sounds like a couple people having a good time, and recording it, like everyone does with everything these days. And of course, a ton of people following it up to sh*t on them for it. Who GAF whether it's a legit, non legit record. People are just too preoccupied with other people's lives.
