Mercury Dominates Big OB 4 Stroke Market

    Do the math..........
    Somebody I know bought a Suzuki 250 hp V6.
I have had a Merc 200 Pro XS for 3 years.

    Suzuki 250 V6 dry weight = 660 lbs
Mercury V8 200 Pro XS dry weight = 570 lbs (and TWO more cylinders)
    Honda 225 V6 dry weight = 625 lbs

Yeah..........I couldn't recall what the Yammy was. Too expensive for me anyway. They can't make EPA emissions specs in the states. It's a walk in the park for Merc.

What do you mean by they can't make EPA in the US?

They had problems meeting EPA emission standards with their bigger motors and their dealer stocks were tight. Not many engines getting thru for delivery. Ihis had nothing to do with COVID19. Another reason why the lead time for a big Merc 4 stroke is nearly a year.

Thats pretty interesting.... can I ask where you are getting that information?

Strange merc has no problem meeting the regs, with a bigger displacement. And they are cat ready when the time comes too.

Stoker won the spring Parker Enduro with a 500R 4 stroke.

My dealer told me about the Yamaha issues when I bought my V8 Pro XS. I had to wait 14 months to get it. Compared to Merc, Yamaha V8 prices are astronomical.

Ever seen one on a fish scale?

Me neither but I’ll bet you a beer of your choose that it ain’t close to 505!

    Those things are ginormous!
I'd rather be competitive w/junk I built in my garage than win w/stuff I bought.

I have not seen one on a scale. That's just the advertised weight.

Once mine is ready, I'll hang it up and we will have an idea within a few pounds of stock anyways.
