1992 Johnson 200xp help

Engine will only fire up when it’s hooked up to the charger with 1000amps going through it. I replaced the battery and it’s still doing the same thing. It’s like the motor is not cranking fast enough to fire it up without the jumper.

How are the battery cables? Tight? Clean connection? NEW? If they are from 1992 replace them... Then of course, get a starter..
