It looks like it was epoxied or bondoed after the cone was attached,Mind you this is about a quarter size piece that came off the middle of the lower unit at about the height that the cone attaches.I have pics but not sure how to attach. Thanks for the reply.

It isn’t welded on. Just gonna have to add filler. JB weld. No bondo. Bondo holds up pretty good to air at 70 mph. Water? Not so much…. Might want to find the seam between cone and the unit and V it out and re-epoxy the seam. This doesn’t have to look perfect. It has to hold it on.

JB Weld. Marine Tex. they both have a little filler in them to give it a paste consistency. maybe use shredded fibers in liquid epoxy. The other way to go is put a layer of glass mat over the nose one. But that makes it bigger, therefore slower.

I had a similar issue with a coned OMC gearcase losing a quarter-sized piece and I repaired it with Marine Tex. Marine Tex is my go-to compound for these and other kinds of similar repairs on hulls and lowers. Has never let me down and you can shape it and sand it. Good stuff IMO.

You will get lots of practice patching it I have never seen a nose cone case that didn't pop chunks out from time to time never in 30 years of performance boating
