    Optimax newbie

Recently bought a center console with a 1999 200hp Optimax. In my years of owning Mercurys, it's the first Optimax I have owned.
What are the secrets for maintenance and longevity for these? Specifically the Optimax pump?
    Thanks!

    Use dfi thin oil
Don't use typical 2 stroke oil.

99 is a super old optimax. "Good luck" is all I have for you.

Youll be good with regular mantinence IMO. Clean fuel with regular treatment, DFI oils as stated. WHat color is that compressor? Raw or Black?

Allow it to warm up before dogging it. Bass guys tend to start and WOT. Also allow it to cool some before you turn it off after a hard run.
