    Racing in the 450R class

    .

With the addition of multiple teams and boat manufacturers, this class just got hotter

This past weekend's race at Marathon was so much fun to watch (rewind in Facebook) --> https://www.facebook.com/RaceWorldOf...1408696593095/

The red DW was smoking the race course tackling big waves and wind

I read on Speed On The Water that video showed they did not hold their lane at the start. After many years of anything goes rules are now being enforced.

It was the turn in on 1 but when I watch the video at 4:20;09 they are past the turn marker a bit before they turn .The rule to hold your lane till turn 1 has been there for years but no one has been DQ for 1 as minor as this that I can Remember There is some good helicopter video of it if someone will post .Also heard rookie has to start behind other boats but a lot of the guys have leased the drivers seat and never started in the rear. If there rookies what do you call the rest of the fleet. As for ECU MERC needs to hand them out before the race like Super Stock 32 class ,did the only check the Red boats or did they take all. .I cant believe any of the gentleman racers would cheat .

Its amazing how willing people are to tear their boats up. We are going to see just how rugged the 450's are.

MTI was cheating from day one and when they were questioned about their gear cases, cowls, and crossover tubes in Key West then suddenly it was okay for the other teams to follow suit and modify their stuff. It was a little late for that being the race was in two hours. This is just the way things go when you are dealing with "racers with resources". I say make a 450 open class and anything goes other then displacement limits "way easier to control" and we will get to see some really innovative mid-sections be developed and run on the real proving grounds. This is by no means an inexpensive class to be part of so why hold them back with a bunch of guidelines (all involved can afford to experiment and better the consumer product at the same time).
