    I have used the 3-M depth gauge before ... but the chips ruined the edge ..

    I moved on to sharpies .. but the WD-40, err, tapmatic fluid .. dissolved the line .

    I bought a pack of paint pen's .... and never looked back ...

    I would say that the mill has a auto feed and quill stop .. but that doesn't fit the redneck repair theme of this thread ..

    Back at it again, stuffed some 1/2-13 aluminum plugs in there, filled the top and re-taped for M8 - Didnt like how the first try threads looks with some gaps, I don't think I could do much better than this using the caveman methods, hopefully they hold and the faces still seals tight !!

    This was my first project to learn how to weld aluminum

    Also figured id learn to weld the aluminum instead of buying another head, had to fill this slot I made to get the head off the block...have to do some repairs on the other head too and then ill start putting the piston back in

    you need to be careful, dude. next thing you know you are gonna have a bunch of blocks with windows in them lined up in your basement. i have one i may send you. or is it a skylight when it is in the roof?
