90 merc inline. 85-6.
what are these beasties worth these days? and does hanging a motor on a transom and allowing a test drive help value and speed of sale? this motor is included with my new boat. 77 18.5 allie bass boat that has a 50 merc big foot 4 stroke on it. i know, it is a cardinal sn to underpower an allison that badly. he says the TOP has good compression. i guess first is get it upright in the yard and go through the carbs, do compression test and get a new water pup in it. then proceed from there. open to input on value and what i need to look for and look out for with this motor. i think i need a price in this post so i will say 300 bucks. that number is firm cuz that is what i have to pay to get the motor. i bought his boat and he needs to make the motor leave his mom's yard.

Not so much trying to sell it as get input. The motor comes with the 18 Allison I just bought if I go back with 300 more dollars. But if nobody wants these, regardless of condition I need to not fill my limited junk space. It is supposed to have even compression across the board and need carb work. And the covers are quite pretty, which many of these old beasties cannot say.

but if i pick it up, i need to make it leave right away. i can go thru the carbs and get it running right, but then i would need a couple hundred for parts and time. my only other option is hang it on the allison and sell it as a 65 mph running driving boat and start over with something else to cut into a flats boat. and i think the allie is too good a candidate for that to let it go.

Hate to say it but they are a dime a dozen. Today's fuels have killed many of them and the reed cage has also taken a toll. In another week or so I will have a pair of them needing work. Make a great project for you. $200 for the pair. These are 115s.

Aint nobody hanging one of these old two strokes on any hull newer than 91 or so. Most boats 91 and older are total garbage. That leaves the wingnuts like us around here restoring and messing with old performance hulls. Not too many of the hulls we play with will do anything exciting with a 115 or smaller. There are some, just not many. If you want to flip fast, might not be the best mota to invest in.

Hi, for an idea of value, In November 2021 I sold a 1977 85HP Merc 4 cylinder Manual trim for $1300. In June 2022 I sold a 1984 115 Merc 6 cylinder Power trim for $1700. I had them on a stand that I could start and run them.

nobody is calling about any of these L6 motors any more. he has it up on FB for 500. i know he will take less. but if you don't already have one, you do not want one. i just picked up a 95 125 merc with low-ish compression in one hole for 200 bucks. people aren't even buying 95-05 2 strokes these days. not needing work, anyway.
